Jende Industries Taiwan is proud to offer local knife and tool sharpening services in Kaohsiung through Foreign Pig Sharpening Services (外國豬磨刀子). We provide professional sharpening for kitchen knives, household scissors, fabric shears, and beautician shears, helping customers restore the performance and cutting ability of their tools.

The service is operated by Tom Blodgett, founder of Jende Industries. Tom’s journey into sharpening began in an unexpected way. As a professional oboe musician, he traveled from the United States to Taiwan for love. His first experience with sharpening came not from knives, but from sharpening oboe reeds. While he initially had little interest in knife sharpening, he soon discovered that many people around him had limited access to quality sharpening services.
Over the years, Tom dedicated himself to learning the craft, studying different sharpening methods, exchanging knowledge with experienced sharpeners, and continually refining his techniques. Drawing from multiple sharpening traditions and philosophies, he developed an approach focused on precision, consistency, and practical results.

Tom’s goal is simple: to provide a fast, reliable, and accessible sharpening service that helps both professionals and home users. Whether serving chefs who depend on sharp knives every day or families preparing meals at home, he believes every cutting tool deserves proper care and maintenance.
In many parts of the world, knife sharpening has evolved beyond a simple maintenance task into a skilled craft and community where enthusiasts share knowledge and techniques. Through Foreign Pig Sharpening Services, Tom hopes to bring that same appreciation for sharpening to Taiwan.
Everyone is welcome to bring their knives and tools for sharpening. Whether your knife is expensive or inexpensive, new or well-used, every blade deserves to be treated with care.

The name “foreign pig” is usually a demeaning term for foreigners, but the term here is playfully aimed at getting the elephant in the room out of the way. Yes, this guy is a foreigner. More importantly, the sharpening services are unbeatable in terms of price and quality.
The couple in this video use our services because it’s hard to find good quality sharpening that lasts. The local market sharpening is very cheap, but it doesn’t stay sharp long.
The catch phrase for the services is ” we save your fingers”.
